Manaslu Region Sustainable Tourism Master Plan
The Challenge
The Manaslu region lacked a coordinated tourism management plan. Unregulated growth threatened the fragile alpine ecosystem and the authenticity of local Tibetan-influenced culture.
Our Approach
AMRC conducted a 12-month assessment involving stakeholder consultations with 22 communities, environmental carrying capacity studies, infrastructure audits, and economic modeling.
Key Deliverables
The master plan includes a 10-year phased development roadmap, visitor management guidelines, community-based tourism enterprise frameworks, waste management protocols, and training programs.
Results
Within the first year, the Manaslu region saw a 15% increase in tourist spending while reducing per-capita waste generation by 30%. Three new community-managed lodges were established.
