Documenting Nepal's Living Heritage: The Mountain Communities Photo Series
About the Project
Over six months, AMRC's media team traveled to 28 remote villages across the Dolpa, Mustang, and Humla districts to document the rich cultural heritage of Nepal's mountain communities.
Cultural Preservation
Many of these communities maintain traditions dating back centuries — from ancient Buddhist monasteries in Upper Mustang to shamanistic healing practices still prevalent in Humla.
Stories of Resilience
In Dolpa, we documented how traditional farming practices are being adapted to cope with changing weather patterns. In Mustang, we captured the revival of traditional apple cultivation as a sustainable livelihood alternative.
Exhibition
The complete photo series will be exhibited at the Nepal Art Council in Kathmandu and published as a hardcover book through AMRC Publications.
